White Wednesday

OK. Here's the deal, Pickle... I recently closed my shabby (as in decor... not in products!) little scrapbook store in town. I brought home as many (ok, fine. i brought home more ) of my furniture pieces that I thought I could squeeze into my home. Fortunately, this little counter fit perfectly into a bare corner in my den. Isn't it delicious? I stumbled upon it at a flea market. It's made from bits and pieces of shabby scraps. Absolutely yummy. Anyway, this den is panelled with light pine, so I have been on a mission to bring in lots of creamy white to give the room an airy feel. I would love to paint this room, but I am SO afraid that my mama would come back and tan my 52 year old boo-hiney. (I live in the house that my parents built in the late 40's.) I apoligize profusely for the setup not being all styled... Right now, I'm just trying to work through the massive piles of boxes and furniture that I brought home to roost. So. this White Wednesday post brings pictures PLUS a plea to you to offer ALL of your imaginative suggestions for this little corner as well as the whole "golden" room. Bring it on. I'm ready to be adopted as a project that each of you want to complete! Big hug...

I'm linking up to Faded Charm for their White Wednesday party... and to Get Your Craft On @ Life as Lori and to Show Off Your Stuff @ Fireflies and Jellybeans. You really ought to hop over and see the inspiring eye candy these ladies share!

Ohh, that counter is yummy! This looks like the beginnings of a working craft nook to me. The counter with the baskets are perfect to store supplies and cut things out on top of. You need a comfortable stool. The clipboards could become a sizable bulletin board, for projects in the works. You could incorporate this into the total look of the room and paint it shabby chic style or get a classy screen and partition it off from your guest's eyes. Pulling back the screen when you are working to make the most of the light.
Just ideas to work around in your head. My mind is extreme visual! I see things like this is my head when I wake up from sleep.:) I love that counter, too cute that you made that!

I wish I had time to scrap too. But with six kids and beeing alone to provide and take care of them there is'nt enough time.

But som day I'll have time I guess. =)

Love your wood counter. A metallic bulletin board at IKEA, painted white hanging above it filled with the metallic tina (IKEA) to house all your little scrapbooking doo-dads would like nice and very functional. If I were you, I'd go ahead and paint the paneled walls. You mama would not tan your boo-hiney but give you a big hug instead. She'd love it as will you. The difference in light in the room will be amazing!

Sorry, that should have read metallic tins!

Wow, I really love this counter. That scallop on the top is gorgeous! We painted wood paneling in one house and I really loved it. But I also love the look of your wood. Hard call. I know it will be great. How could it not be with that awesome counter? I also loved the paper dolls you and your daughter made. so cute and creative!

I agree with Paula. Paint that paneling!! How is that for being blunt? lol My mother was horrified that I was going to paint a fake brick wall and now she loves it. It would not look good with all my stuff the way it was. I have also painted all the paneling in this house or else totally removed it, but that's just me. I just love light walls. Whatever you choose to do it will be wonderful and it will be YOU and that is what is important.

I have so many projects ongoing. My house is full of unfinished things. You look at least organized!

I love that piece! It is just darling. I would paint too, I think your Mom would end up loving the finished product.
I like the idea of a big ornate frame (thrift shop maybe?) painted white hanging above it that you could "frame" all those clipboards with. Or make it a memo board to put your projects on.
How about some big white pots of plants? Some big hardy leafy green things in big white pots always brighten a room! I just put a big cane palm ($10 at Walmart) in a big bright orange pot in one corner to add a splash of color and I LOVE it!
